The Heartwise Way: 10 Steps to Homeschooling with Intention

  • Book a. consultation call with Dr. Goins by filling out the contact form here.

  • We are a relationship-based microschool built on partnership.
Your journey begins with a visit to our learning space, where you and your child can meet potential teachers and explore the environment together. This first step helps us ensure a strong relational fit and gives us valuable insight into how your child engages in the space.

  • Applications are available under each program description on our Program Pricing and Fees Page.

The $50 fee can be turned in with the application at the learning center with cash or check; or money can be wired through Zelle. Contact Dr. Crystal Goins for further instructions.

  • After You Apply
Once we receive your application and deposit, the Heartwise team will schedule a Family Meeting. During this meeting, we will:

    1. Discuss your application to determine if we’re a good fit to meet your child’s needs.

    2. Share an overview of our microschool’s mission, vision, values, and the core principles that guide our work.

This is also your opportunity to ask questions and explore how we can partner together in your child’s learning journey.

  • Within a few days of the Family Meeting, our team will follow up with a final enrollment decision and next steps. If we mutually agree that Heartwise is a good fit, we’ll move forward with your child’s placement.

  • Families who are accepted will receive a Welcome Packet with important details about the school year, including schedules, policies, and a Family Commitment Form. To officially reserve your child’s spot, please return the signed form along with a non-refundable deposit of $250 for PreK, $450 for K-5, and $400 for middle school.

Once the school year begins, this deposit acts as your Curriculum and Supplies Fee. We will use this deposit to purchase your child’s curriculum and supplies over the summer.

  • Once your spot is secured, you'll receive instructions to complete online registration through FutureFund, our school’s payment and registration platform.

    Through FutureFund, you will:

    • Fill out all required registration forms

    • Set up your payment plan

    • Manage payment links and sign ups for enrichment programs, field trips, and school events.

FutureFund makes it easy to collect payment without hassell.

  • Stay connected and informed by joining our private Heartwise BAND group—our central hub for communication, community, and updates.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Dr. Goins will send an invite via text or email.

    • Simply accept the invitation to join.

    • Once inside, you can chat with other Heartwise families, create posts, receive real-time updates, and enjoy photos from school events and daily learning moments.

BAND helps us stay united as a school community—supporting each other and celebrating every step of the journey together.

  • Before the school year begins, your child will be invited to a Student Orientation or “Welcome Day,” and parents will be welcomed to a Community Gathering to meet other Heartwise families and staff.

During this time, you’ll also receive a menu of available enrichment offerings for your scholar. Our team will provide personalized recommendations based on your child’s interests and learning profile, along with guidance on how many enrichment activities to begin with.

At Heartwise, we emphasize balance—enrichment is a privilege that must align with a productive academic work ethic. If, at any point, we feel your child would benefit from more academic structure before participating in additional enrichments, we’ll communicate that with care and clarity.

    Please note:
Enrichments outside of the K–5 In-Person Tutoring & Enrichment Program are considered add-on costs and are not included in your core tuition. Plan accordingly.

  • With your child officially enrolled, we’ll begin preparing for a personalized and purposeful learning experience—rooted in partnership, curiosity, and belonging.

If your child does not already have recent testing data (such as NWEA MAP test results), we will schedule the following:

    • K–2 Scholars: In-person academic assessment and screening

    • Grades 2–8 Scholars: MAP Growth testing session

These assessments help us understand your child’s current academic levels so we can begin the school year with a clear, customized learning plan designed to support both their strengths and areas for growth.
